Newly Diagnosed

An HIV or Hepatitis C diagnosis can bring with it a whole range of emotions. You might feel upset, shocked, overwhelmed, worried or angry. Maybe you’re finding it difficult to take in what you have been told, or perhaps you have a lot of unanswered questions.

All of these responses are very normal.

A diagnosis of Hepatitis C or HIV is also different for everyone.

You may find no change to your physical health and manage well on treatment to live a long, healthy life. Or you may have more difficulties given other health conditions. Whatever your situation, we’re here to listen and help you work out what support feels right for you.

We can provide a wide range of practical, emotional and physical support. From specialist counselling, advice and information about treatment, as well as support around how to talk to other people about your diagnosis, to a space to share any concerns you might have about relationships, children or work. Some people also find it helpful to speak to someone who has been through the same thing and come out the other side.

Whatever your experience of being newly diagnosed, Waverley Care is here to make sure you don’t have to go through it alone.

If you’re not sure which service to contact, please get in touch with your nearest office.
