Buddy Services
Waverley Care’s Buddy Service exists to provide independent one-to-one support for people suffering exclusion and / or isolation as a result of living with HIV or Hepatitis C.
Essentially the service is a befriending service with the aim being to bring together an individual living with HIV or Hepatitis C and a trained volunteer ‘buddy’ to support that individual as a friend in an open, non judgemental and non prescriptive way in their everyday lives.
Having a buddy can be a great opportunity for someone living with HIV or Hepatitis C to have someone in their life who will be there through the bad times and the good. Users of the service spend time with their buddies in many ways. They may just want to have a chat at home, go out to a café, watch a film or have their buddy accompany them to a medical appointment. It will depend entirely upon the individual.
The Buddy Service has years of experience in bringing people together to form positive relationships that reduce isolation and are a real benefit to peoples lives.
