Health Promotion
Our Health Promotion Service aims to support people living with HIV or Hepatitis C to live as healthy a life a possible. We take a holistic approach and define “a healthy life” as one in which an individual’s emotional, physical and social needs are being met.
The service works with people to maintain or improve their general health. Information, resources and support are provided around key health issues including:
- healthy eating
- exercise and physical fitness
- stress relief and relaxation
- smoking cessation
- sexual health and relationships
- emotional and mental health.
The service offers a variety of activities and resources including short courses, workshops and seminars. In addition, one-to-one support is available for people who want to discuss exercise options, healthy eating, their emotional health or any other health promotion issues in greater depth.
Available on a weekly basis are:
- Yoga classes
- Complimentary therapies
- A Walking group
- A Gardening group at our allotment.
Walking Group
The Walking Group provides an opportunity to discover new places, improve your well-being and fitness, experience the therapeutic benefits of being in the great outdoors, enjoy a chat with fellow walkers - and eat plenty of chocolate and bananas along the way!
We go for both gentle strolls and more ambitious rambles in and around Edinburgh.
The Walking Group meets two or three Thursday afternoons a month and one Saturday.
Walkers of all abilities welcome.
