Milestone
To provide short-term residential support, Milestone is staffed by a team of specialist nurses and social care workers. Ancillary and voluntary staff, along with the staff from Waverley Care’s other services, are also available to support residents during their stay.
Milestone offers residents many things including:
- a fun, relaxed and supportive atmosphere
- time to talk about concerns and worries
- access to information, advice, counselling, complementary therapies, activities and other Waverley Care Services
- help to link up with other community services e.g. benefits advice
- help to meet other health and social care professionals
- support around treatment
- intensive one to one care and support
- the opportunity to meet and socialise with others who have had similar experiences.
Residents will be allocated a key worker on arrival at Milestone to co-ordinate care and support.
We accept referrals from all over Scotland and the UK. If someone is not a resident of Edinburgh their social work department or health trust will need to meet the cost of their respite stay.
Potential users of the service can either self refer to the unit or ask a social worker or health professional to make a referral for them.
