Rector to overcome her fear of heights.

29 Sept 09

At midnight on Sunday 4th October, the Revd Alison Fuller, Rector of St Columba’s-by- the-Castle Episcopal Church in Edinburgh, will take her place in history as part of the major public art project, “One & Other” on the Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square.

For someone with a fear of heights, the idea of spending an hour 8 metres up in the air is a daunting prospect. The Revd Alison Fuller said “In applying for a slot on the plinth, I didn’t really think through the reality of having to overcome my fear of heights. The platform is only 4.4 x 1.7 metres so I will be hard pressed not to look down! However, this is a unique opportunity to raise awareness of and funds for three organisations which are very close to my heart, all of whom help people in some way or other to overcome their anxieties and to feel safe.”

Alison's three chosen organisations are Waverley Care, the Franciscans, and her own church St Columba's-by-the-Castle.
