2009 HIV Infection Figures Released
24 Feb 10Health Protection Scotland has released the latest figures for HIV infection in Scotland.
The most striking figures from the data are the continuing high level of new HIV infections being reported (417 in 2009 - the 4th year in the last 5 with 400+ reports) and a record number of reports attributed to Greater Glasgow & Clyde (190 - compared to 153 in '07 and 140 in '08).
David Johnson, Director of Waverley Care said "These figures show that we need to remain vigilant in the battle against HIV. Too many people are still becoming infected with this virus.”
