"Pezani Mwayi" - "To have access"

23 Mar 10

The Scottish Government has announced new funding for a three year project between Malawi HIV organisations and Waverley Care which will address the prevention, treatment and care of people with HIV/AIDS in hard to reach groups.

The project 'Pezani Mwayi', meaning 'to have access' aims to have approximately 2000 people from excluded groups attend focus groups and drop in for information and access to services. The project will train more than 300 people from vulnerable communities to be peer educators in their own and surrounding communities.

Funding of £400,000 has been granted over 3 years and the project will run in addition to Waverley Care's Yankhulani! project.
