Edinburgh Festival Fringe Round-up

07 Sept 10

It’s been another fantastic Edinburgh Festival Fringe for Waverley Care and we look on target to beat the £65,000 raised last year.

Our bucketshakers had another bumper year at The Pleasance with lots of performers making a huge difference by encouraging their audiences to donate. The Pleasance also organised a brilliant night of comedy with the Tartan Ribbon Comedy Benefit.  Once again tickets sold out.

Another sell-out night of comedy was the 'Off the Kerb Comedy Gala' at the Festival Theatre.  Hosted by Kevin Bridges and Shappi Khorsandi the night was also filmed for BBC3.

Kevin Bridges and pub landlord Al Murray held additional shows which raised funds for Waverley Care, whilst comedians Ava Vidal, Joe Simmons and Michael Topping added to the fundraising. New Town Bar’s Sunday FUNdraisers ran for the four Sundays of the Fringe with some of the festival's top acts making an appearance and helping to break last year's fundraising totals.

Loud & Proud raised the roof at Greyfriars Kirk with their ever popular a capella performance, “Loud & Proud on the Fringe”.  Finally Mayfield Salisbury Church played host to a massed 'Come & Sing' choir conducted by the SCO Chorusmaster Greg Batsleer and performing Choral Classics.

It’s been a very busy August but hugely successful due to all the support we have received. Thank you to everyone involved!
