Bob Chilcott - New Patron

22 Oct 10

We are delighted to announce the appointment of a new Patron from the world of choral music, Bob Chilcott.

Bob Chilcott, is one of the UK’s foremost composers and conductors of choral music.  He has been involved with Waverley Care since 2004, when he ran a workshop day for the charity as part of the charity’s ongoing series of ‘Come & Sing’ events.

Since 2004, Bob has dedicated two pieces of music to Waverley Care, a short choral anthem entitled “You are my God” and a jazz arrangement of “The House of the Rising Sun”.  He has also conducted three ‘Come & Sing’ events for the charity and has recently been a key advisor and judge in “Sing a New Song” a UK-wide Christmas carol writing competition, which will culminate in a concert in St Cuthbert’s Church, Edinburgh on Saturday 27th November.

About his appointment as patron Bob commented: "I have been associated with Waverley Care for a number of years now through a series of very fulfilling singing days that I have done in Edinburgh on their behalf. Through this association I have become aware of the wonderful and important work that they do in bringing support and hope to a large community of people with HIV. Waverley Care is an organisation that radiates warmth and humanity and I am very proud to be associated with them by being invited to become a Patron."

We are thrilled that Bob Chilcott has agreed to become a Patron of Waverley Care. We have, since 1996, been using music as a focus for many of our fundraising events and, in considering a new Patron for the charity in our 21st birthday year, it seemed highly appropriate to appoint someone from the world of choral music. Our ‘Come & Sing’ events continue to help us raise awareness of our vital work with people who are living with HIV or Hepatitis C and raise much-needed funds to support that work.
