African Faith and Health Conference Announced
16 May 11Waverley Care is proud to announce our African Christian Faith and Health one-day Conference 'We are one, let's walk together'.
Taking place on Saturday 9th July between 10am and 3pm at Glasgow Royal Concert Halls, the conference is aimed at:
- African Christian faith and community leaders and other leaders in the church
- Africans in Scotland
- Health service providers
- Health planners.
The event will explore and help attendees understand how faith and health can work together. The speakers will explore topics that will help conference delegates to:
- know about health services in Scotland and how to access them
- know how to look after their health
- understand how prayer supports healing.
We are honoured that the keynote speaker for the Conference will be Rev Canon Dr Gideon Byamugisha, an Anglican priest from Uganda who has been speaking openly about living with HIV since 1992.
The conference will be chaired by Eunice Sinyemu, Policy Officer and Deputy CEO of the African Health Policy Network. Other speakers will be Professor Balogun, Professor of Medicine at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-lfe, Nigeria and Esther Muchena, Asylum Services Advice Worker, Scottish Refugee Council.
This is a free event however places are limited and must be booked in advance. Refreshments and lunch will be provided.
