#laffoffstigma – CHALLENGING STIGMA IN 140 CHARACTERS

If you use Twitter or Facebook, why not join us in an unusual opportunity to test your wit?

#laffoffstigma is a new campaign which we’ve launched to coincide with the Festival. It encourages people to stand alongside those who are living with HIV, by tweeting an original joke, using 140 characters and including the hash-tag #laff11. Jokes can also be submitted via Facebook on the website or on Waverley Care’s Facebook page.

The #laffoffstigma competition, which runs until 29th August, will be judged by Ryan Taylor, Comedy Programmer at the Pleasance and the winning joke will win £100 of Amazon vouchers.

Entering a joke on Twitter will also prompt your avatar to be added to the #laffoffstigma website (www.laffoffstigma.com), showing your solidarity with those who are living with HIV.

Full competition rules, as well as stories of how HIV stigma impacts on the lives of Waverley Care’s service users, are available from www.laffoffstigma.com. The competition is not limited to people who are attending the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and tweets are encouraged from throughout the world.
