Pezani Mwayi

The Scottish Government is funding a three year project between Malawi HIV organisations and Waverley Care which will address the prevention, treatment and care of people with HIV/AIDS in hard to reach groups.

The project `Pezani Mwayi`, meaning `to have access`, aims to have approximately 2000 people from excluded groups attend focus groups and drop in for information and access to services. The project will train more than 300 people from vulnerable communities to be peer educators in their own and surrounding communities.

The project also aims to have 20 people from excluded groups become involved in District AIDS Committees, and 20 `against gender based violence` groups set up across 9 districts. As well as this the project aims to distribute both male and female condoms to hard to reach groups.

Pezani Mwayi will run in conjunction with Yankhulani!, Waverley Care`s other project in Malawi.
