Sponsored Events

Whether it’s a leisurely walk or jumping out of a plane there are a range of different sponsored events that you can take part in to raise money for Waverley Care.

Here are a few ideas to consider:·

• Sponsored Walks
  The Walk for Scotland takes place in Edinburgh every summer with 1, 6 or 12 mile routes for people to choose from, or why not think about organising your own sponsored walk with friends and family?

• Sponsored Bike Rides
  Why not use pedal power to raise funds? Pedal for Scotland takes place on 9 September 2012 with a ‘family ride’ now in both Glasgow and Edinburgh, ‘challenge ride’ (47 miles) and the ‘sportive ride’ (94 miles). The longer routes run between Glasgow and Edinburgh.
   
• Individual Running Events
  5km may be your chosen distance or a full 26.2 mile marathon. There is a wide range of running events available for you to take part in of all different distances. This year the Meadows Marathon is now an actual marathon as well as a half marathon and a fun run, all taking place on the meadows course on the 4th March 2012. We also have places available for the Edinburgh Marathon and Half Marathon on 27th May
   
• Team Running Events
  Why not rally your friends or workmates to take part in an event together. We have places available now for the Edinburgh Marathon Hairy Haggis Team Relay taking place on Sunday 27th May 2012.
   
• Forth Rail Bridge Abseil
  For the more adventurous amongst you why not challenge your head for heights and tackle a 165ft freefall abseil off the Forth Rail Bridge. Our next abseil will take place on 10th June 2012, get in touch if you fancy taking the plunge! 
   
• Skydive
  Either attached to an instructor (in tandem) or on your own (static line) take part in a parachute jump and have something to tell the grandkids! Skydive centres are located throughout the UK and jumps take place throughout the year so you can book a time and place that suit you.
   
• Overseas Challenge
  Ever fancied cycling from London to Paris, crossing the Andes on horseback or trekking the Inca trail to Machu Picchu? Get involved in a life changing overseas challenge and raise money for Waverley Care at the same time. For more information on our overseas events have a look at our brochure.
