Volunteering and Buddying

Volunteer Service
Volunteers play a key part in our organisation. Here are some of the opportunities for you to become involved:

Receptionist / Admin duties
Group support
African project support
Gardening (including organic allotment)
One to one activities and support
Fundraising (bucket shaking and helping at public events)
Specialist experience (e.g. cookery and hairdressing)
Complementary therapies (e.g. massage and reiki)
Community events and trips
And many more….

Buddy Service
Buddies offer one-to-one support to people suffering exclusion or isolation as a result of living with HIV or Hepatitis C. The buddy is a trained volunteer who offers support as a ‘friend’ in an open non judgemental and non prescriptive way and they usually offer on average 2 hours support a week to the person they are matched with.

Volunteers and Buddies meet new people, learn new skills, gain experience, enjoy a new challenge, make a real difference and help stop stigma and discrimination faced by people living with HIV or Hepatitis C. An open mind and enthusiasm are all you need.

How do I get started?
First of all you will need to complete our application form (you can download it in pdf format below if you don`t have Word). We then arrange to meet up for a chat and to discuss your application further. All of our volunteers then complete a 4 day training program – normally over 4 Saturdays. We complete reference checks and a disclosure and then you are ready to start.

We provide further training, volunteers socials and events, information sessions and one-to-one support to all our volunteers. For further information please contact:
