Alongside the specialist support services listed below, women can use many of the other services available from Waverley Care such as Advocacy and Information, Counselling, Healthy Living and Spiritual Care, to name only a few
ISIS Support Group
The group meets weekly and provides peer support for women from many different backgrounds and experiences. It gives women living with HIV the opportunity to meet others in the same situation, explore the issues that affect them, share problems, celebrate their achievements, learn new things, relax, de-stress, have fun and laugh.
ISIS engages in a wide range of activities with a focus on using the arts to explore issues which affect women living with HIV. Some of the issues our projects have looked at include stigma and discrimination, the side effects of medication, and how women feel about their bodies.
Many women look forward to each week being able to meet with others who understand what its like to be HIV positive. As one group member put it “ISIS for me is a comfy place where I can take off the face I wear for the outside world and be myself”.
