We are delighted to announce the launch of 'Sing a New Song', a Christmas carol writing competition for 2010, our 21st birthday year.

New and established composers are invited to write a Christmas carol of maximum 4 minutes duration for SATB voices.

The winning composer will receive a trophy and a cheque for £500.

After an initial shortlisting process by Jenny Sumerling, Musical Director of Cadenza and Scottish composer, Tom Cunningham, twelve carols will be considered and judged by composers Bob Chilcott & James MacMillan and Simon Woods, Chief Executive of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.

Six of these carols will be performed in a concert in Edinburgh on Saturday 27th November 2010, when the winner will be announced.

Full information is contained within the competition guidelines which are available to download here or by telephoning Waverley Care’s Fundraising and Communications Team on 0131 556 9710.  The deadline for submission of entries is 21st May 2010.
