Award nod for Wave project

Hot on the heels of our Wave project’s 1st birthday earlier this month, we’ve had more good news with a nomination for a national award.

Wave has been named as one of the nominees for the Pamela Sheridan Award at the FPA Awards.

The award recognises innovation and good practice in sex education projects for young people and was established in memory of Pamela Sheridan, an early sex education pioneer.

Since launching in November last year, our Wave team have delivered sexual health and relationships education sessions with over 950 young people across the Highland region, visiting 16 schools and covering over 1,200 miles in the process.

The feedback from young people has been amazing, with 88% telling us they’d learned something new and 81% evaluating the service as ‘good’ or ‘brilliant’.

We are incredibly proud of the work the team has taken forward in its first year, and it’s fantastic that this has been recognised with a nomination alongside some other amazing projects.

The winners will be announced on 5 December, and we’re looking forward to the opportunity to showcase our work.
