Charities team up for city defibrillator project

Staff at Milestone unveiled a new piece of kit last week as we took delivery of an Automatic Emergency Defibrillator.

The defibrillator is the latest to be installed in Edinburgh as part of a project from charity, St John Scotland, which is hoping to install 40 of the units in public sites across the city during 2017.

The easy-to-use units can prove vital in the event of someone suffering a heart attack. When used shortly after someone enters cardiac arrest, use of a defibrillator can greatly increase the chances of survival.

Our Milestone Residential Support Centre provides intensive support to vulnerable people living with HIV or Hepatitis C and, in an emergency, access to the defibrillator could be the difference between life and death.

It’s also a great facility for the wider community. We want to reach out to the schools and community groups we already work closely with to make sure they know the defibrillator is there and how to use it.

We are delighted to be working with St John Scotland as part of this campaign and grateful to be one of the sites chosen for this life-saving piece of equipment.
