World AIDS Day 2022
Find out how you can get involved with Waverley Care this World AIDS Day, Thursday 1st December 2022
Every year on 1 December, people around the world come together to unite in the fight against HIV, to raise awareness and challenge the stigma that continues to surround the condition.
In Scotland, we're on track to become one of the first countries in the world to achieve zero HIV transmissions, but we can't do it without your help. This World AIDS Day, we need your support to continue our work fighting HIV stigma and providing support to people across Scotland living with HIV.

Fundraise for Waverley Care and together we can ensure that no-one in Scotland faces HIV alone.
Why not try out one of the ideas below? Whether you choose to fundraise at work or home, we’re here every step of the way to support you. Request your fundraising pack here.
- Bake sale - Get everyone to bring in some delicious treats and put out a donation box - everyone loves a bit of cake!
- Host a prize draw or raffle - All you need to do is find a prize and encourage others to enter! We can help set-up text raffles to make it even easier.
- Organise a night out - Whether it’s a quiz, party or ceilidh, kickstart December with a fundraising bang!
- Set yourself a challenge - The trick is to pick something that really pushes you, from a 5km swim in the local pool to a treadmill marathon, and get sponsored to double the sense of achievement!

Every month, the recently opened Edinburgh Community Bookshop is supporting a different local charity. We’re thrilled to announce that Waverley Care has been chosen for the month of December.
From 1st December 2022 – coinciding with World AIDS Day – the bookshop will donate the profits from all sales to Waverley Care, allowing us to provide life-changing support to people across Scotland living with HIV. To help us raise as much as possible, we need you to donate your pre-loved books to be sold in the shop.
To highlight our work, we’re particularly keen to curate a special collection of books about HIV, hepatitis C, or LGBTQ+ activism, and books written by queer authors. If you have any recommendations, we’d love to hear them!
Donations can be dropped-off at the bookshop 7 days a week, between 10am and 4pm. We can arrange pick-ups for donations of a significant size – simply get in touch with Holly at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 0131 556 9710.
