Healthy Living event comes to Glasgow

Our Glasgow hepatitis C team continued its recent focus on healthy lifestyles with a public event in the east end of Glasgow.

The Healthy Living event brought together a number of different local support organisations to provide information and advice on safer alcohol consumption and healthy eating.

Healthy lifestyles play an important role in managing hepatitis C – a condition that  causes damage to the liver.  The liver is responsible for processing food and removing toxins like alcohol that can harm the body, so a healthy diet can help to keep the liver functioning well.

To show that healthy eating doesn’t have to mean boring food, a completely vegan buffet provided the attendees with a new way of looking at food as well as a delicious lunch.

The event was held at the Legacy Hub in Dalmarnock, which was developed as part of the legacy to the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in 2014. Part of the games legacy was about improving the health of local people and we were delighted to be involved in an event that highlights local support to achieve this.

A special thanks to the East Community Addiction Forum Small Grants Fund for their support for this event and to the other organisations who came along to support it – British Liver Trust, Hepatitis Scotland, Scottish Drugs Forum, North East Glasgow Suicide Prevention Forum and Drink Wise Age Well.
