Milestone Pamper Day

Our Lothian Community Projects team got together with Milestone this week to host a pamper day for service users.

Service users from Edinburgh, Lothian and Fife could choose from a range of treatments and therapies, from make-up and manicures to hair colouring and massage.

We were delighted to be joined on the day by two organisations who have supported our pamper days in the past. Gillian and Sandra from MAC Cosmetics at Harvey Nichols offered makeovers and expert tips, and Shona and Sam from Kiehl’s on George Street provided relaxing hand massages using their skin care products.

Alongside pamper days, MAC have supported us with grants through the MAC AIDS Fund, which diverts all proceeds from the Viva Glam range to HIV projects around the world.

The staff team got in on the action too, providing a range of other treatments. Meanwhile, our kitchen team were busy preparing a buffet lunch for our guests, while project worker, Tam lead the entertainment on the karaoke!

Behind the fun, our pamper days bring real benefits to service users. All too often, the challenges of living with HIV or Hepatitis C mean that people can become isolated, which can lead to poor mental health. Events like this encourage people to socialise and share experiences, and support stronger emotional and mental health.

Our thanks go to Gillian and Sandra from MAC, Shona and Sam from Kiehl’s, our volunteer therapists Agnieszka, Bridget, Liz and Christina and to our wonderful staff, volunteers and service users for making the day such a success.
