Welcome to our New Volunteers!

“I really feel I’m part of the charity already.” – Sandra

Last month, Volunteer Coordinators Jacqui Crerar and Robert Pollock welcomed nine new volunteers from Glasgow and Edinburgh to our bespoke volunteer training programme.

During each Saturday of March, four of our current volunteers joined us to share their experience volunteering, along with staff from our services delivering different sections of the training programme. By having our current volunteers and staff delivering the training in collaboration with Jacqui and Robert, we were able to give our new volunteers the chance to hear lots of different perspectives on our work across Scotland – along with making the most of our in-house skills and knowledge on a range of topics.

“The course has been engaging and one of the best I’ve attended. All the speakers have been brilliant.” – Lauren

Our new volunteers enjoyed the training programme, with topics covered including:

At Waverley Care, volunteers are important members of our teams across Scotland – bringing new skills and expertise to our services that make a big difference for people receiving our support. That’s why we’re delighted to welcome our new volunteers on board and support them to flourish in their new roles. A huge thank you to our new and existing volunteers – who generously give their time to people living with or affected by HIV and hepatitis C across Scotland.

“The training experience has been really encouraging, informative, supportive and enjoyable. It’s a reflection of the charity as a whole, and creates an environment that I’m excited to join” – William

We deliver a number of volunteer training programmes throughout the year. If you are interested in volunteering with us or learning more about the training programme, you can contact Jacqui or Robert on 0131 558 1425.
